Fortunate Son / Down on the Corner

Album Notes & Community Reviews

A furious, incredibly concise anti-war anthem that perfectly articulated the working-class resentment toward the Vietnam draft. John Fogerty wrote the song explicitly criticizing wealthy elites and politicians who manipulated the system to protect their own families while sending the poor overseas. The track's raw, powerful riff and howling vocals made it a ubiquitous soundtrack to the counterculture protests of the era.
