Sign of the Times

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Marking his highly anticipated debut as a solo artist following the hiatus of One Direction, this sprawling nearly six-minute ballad surprised critics with its classic rock ambition. Heavily indebted to David Bowie and 1970s glam rock, the track features soaring vocals, a sweeping choir, and lush piano arrangements. It debuted at number one in the UK, immediately establishing his credibility outside of the boyband sphere.
