Album Notes & Community Reviews
A rare moment of peaceful reflection within the typically violent catalog of West Coast gangsta rap. Built upon a smooth, instantly recognizable sample of The Isley Brothers' 'Footsteps in the Dark', Ice Cube narrates an idealized day in South Central Los Angeles where nobody is killed and mundane victories are celebrated. The track's underlying tension lies in the realization that such a peaceful day is considered an extraordinary anomaly.
