Album Notes & Community Reviews
Showcasing the 'Father of Country Music' at his peak, this record contrasts a tragic train-wreck ballad with a surprisingly upbeat, humorous narrative about incarceration. The inclusion of his signature, blues-inflected yodeling fundamentally changed the trajectory of rural American recording. The B-side became an enduring standard, heavily influencing generations of honky-tonk and bluegrass musicians.
