Album Notes & Community Reviews

Built around an insistent, relentless piano loop heavily inspired by composer Steve Reich, the song continuously builds instrumental momentum over seven minutes. James Murphy's conversational, stream-of-consciousness lyrics poignantly explore the melancholy of aging, fading nightlife glory, and the desperate yearning to reconnect with distant friends. It is widely regarded by critics as one of the defining masterpieces of the 2000s.
