Star Dust / Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams (And Dream Your Troubles Away)

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Taking immense creative liberties with a beloved popular melody, the bandleader dismantles and reconstructs the song's phrasing through both his trumpet and his voice. The relaxed, swinging interpretation moves completely away from the rigid tempos of the era's dance bands. The recording is cited as a masterclass in jazz vocalization and the art of melodic paraphrase.
