Album Notes & Community Reviews
Expanding the ensemble to include a tuba and drums, this deeply blues-drenched session focuses entirely on the monumental, extended soloing of the bandleader. The A-side features a complex, multi-strain composition where the trumpet work reaches unprecedented heights of emotional intensity and structural logic. The recording definitively established the soloist as the undisputed, central figure of jazz.
