Album Notes & Community Reviews

Acting as one of the few upbeat, punk-tempo moments on 'In the Aeroplane Over the Sea', 'Holland, 1945' is driven by heavily distorted acoustic guitars and chaotic fuzz-bass. Jeff Mangum's deeply surreal lyrics blend his intense emotional fascination with the diaries of Anne Frank alongside personal anecdotes and cryptic, apocalyptic imagery. The dense, lo-fi production style perfectly encapsulated the Elephant 6 collective's bizarre pop methodology.
