Jeff Mangum's deeply surreal lyrics blend his intense emotional fascination with the diaries of Anne Frank alongside personal anecdotes and cryptic, apocalyptic imagery. The dense, lo-fi production style perfectly encapsulated the Elephant 6 collective's bizarre pop methodology.
