Album Notes & Community Reviews

Functioning as the furious opening manifesto of Trent Reznor's debut album, the track successfully merged the abrasive mechanics of industrial music with an undeniable pop hook. The lyrics attack capitalist greed and absolute control, delivered over a relentless, synthesized dance beat and heavily distorted guitars. Its aggressive crossover appeal paved the way for industrial rock to penetrate mainstream MTV and alternative radio.
