Sliver / Dive

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Recorded hastily during a brief break in touring, 'Sliver' stands as one of the earliest examples of Kurt Cobain's burgeoning interest in straightforward pop structures. Driven by a remarkably simple bassline, the lyrics offer a semi-autobiographical, childlike narrative concerning abandonment anxiety while being left at a grandparent's house. It bridged the gap between the band's murky, sludge-heavy debut and the polished melodicism of their subsequent mainstream breakthrough.
