Album Notes & Community Reviews

Opeth's sixth studio album is the heavy half of a pair recorded simultaneously with the mellow 'Damnation', built from long progressive death metal pieces that alternate Mikael 脜kerfeldt's growled and clean vocals. Produced with Steven Wilson, its extended structures and abrupt dynamic shifts make it among the band's most demanding records.
