Biography
Opeth is a Swedish band formed in Stockholm in 1990, celebrated for its dynamic and genre-defying sound. Initially rooted in Scandinavian death metal, the group quickly evolved by incorporating elements of progressive rock, folk, jazz, and classical music into their lengthy compositions. Led by vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter Mikael Ã…kerfeldt, Opeth is known for its stark contrasts between heavy, guttural passages and serene, acoustic sections. Albums like 'Blackwater Park' and 'Ghost Reveries' cemented their international reputation, showcasing their signature blend of brutality and beauty. Over the decades, they have transitioned from underground metal pioneers to one of the most revered names in progressive music, consistently pushing creative boundaries with each release.
