Album Notes & Community Reviews
A brilliant exercise in pop camouflage, 'Hey Ya!' masks deeply cynical lyrics about the fragility of modern relationships behind an irresistibly upbeat, retro-funk instrumental. Entirely conceived and performed by Andr茅 3000, the song popularized the phrase 'shake it like a Polaroid picture' and transcended genre boundaries to achieve universal cultural saturation. Its clever music video humorously parodied the Beatles' historic 1964 appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show.
