Album Notes & Community Reviews
Driven by an incredibly sluggish, heavy drum break and prominent vinyl scratching, 'Wandering Star' is a masterclass in the oppressive, cinematic gloom of Bristol trip-hop. Beth Gibbons delivers a desperately mournful vocal performance that is heavily contrasted against the dense, hip-hop oriented production provided by Geoff Barrow. It perfectly encapsulates the bleak, film-noir atmosphere that made the group pioneers of the genre.
