Album Notes & Community Reviews

An infectious, synth-funk anthem concerning nuclear armageddon, '1999' solidified the revolutionary 'Minneapolis Sound' that Prince pioneered. The track prominently shares lead vocal duties with his bandmates Lisa Coleman and Dez Dickerson, turning an apocalyptic protest song into one of the decade's definitive party hits.
