Album Notes & Community Reviews

Intentionally constructed with straightforward lyrics to clearly communicate a message of anti-suicide and universal empathy, the ballad leans heavily into classic soul and gospel arrangements. Michael Stipe's passionate, soaring vocal performance is supported by a majestic string section curated by former Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones. The track became a profound cultural touchstone for finding solace during moments of intense grief and isolation.
