Album Notes & Community Reviews

Serving as a heartfelt tribute to the eccentric, deceased comedian Andy Kaufman, the song ponders the nature of reality, belief, and performance art. Michael Stipe famously performs a vocal impression of Elvis Presley during the track's bridges, a nod to one of Kaufman's most well-known routines. Built upon an acoustic, almost country-leaning progression, the single later inspired the title of the 1999 Kaufman biographical film.
