Album Notes & Community Reviews

Stripped entirely of drums or traditional rock instrumentation, the track is an incredibly poignant, piano-driven reflection on the innocence of youth. Michael Stipe's nostalgic lyrics are beautifully elevated by John Paul Jones's elegant string arrangement, creating a deeply melancholic, nocturnal atmosphere. The song stands as one of the band's most gorgeously vulnerable and universally acclaimed ballads.
