Black Hole Sun

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Composed primarily on a Leslie speaker cabinet to achieve a swirling, Beatles-esque psychedelic texture, 'Black Hole Sun' deviates significantly from the band's traditional heavy metal origins. Chris Cornell's surreal, apocalyptic lyrics were reportedly written in fifteen minutes following a misheard news broadcast. Supported by a highly distinctive, disturbing music video that warped suburban Americana, it became the defining grunge anthem of the mid-1990s.
