Album Notes & Community Reviews

Keith Richards infamously conceived the song's legendary three-note guitar riff in a hotel room while half-asleep, recording it onto a portable cassette player before dozing off again. The riff was notably recorded using a Maestro Fuzz-Tone pedal, intended originally to mimic a horn section. Mick Jagger's lyrics channeled youthful frustration with rampant commercialism and sexual tension, providing the 1960s with one of its most enduring rebellious anthems.
