Album Notes & Community Reviews

A nostalgic reflection on adolescent transition, '1979' was a late addition to 'Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness', nearly cut by producer Flood until Billy Corgan completely rearranged it in a single day. The track heavily features drum machines and synthesized vocal loops, marking a significant departure from the band's traditional heavy-grunge sound. Its accompanying music video perfectly captured the aimless suburban boredom described in the lyrics.
