My Generation / Shout and Shimmy

The quintessential anthem of teenage rebellion for the 1960s British mod subculture. Pete Townshend famously penned the stuttering lyric 'hope I die before I get old' allegedly after the Queen Mother had his Packard hearse towed away from outside her residence. The track is deeply notable for John Entwistle's lightning-fast bass solo, which was practically unheard of in pop-rock recording at the time.
