Album Notes & Community Reviews
Tom Waits' 'Alice' collects songs written with Kathleen Brennan for Robert Wilson's stage adaptation of the life of Alice Liddell, first performed in Hamburg in 1992. Its dark cabaret and vocal jazz arrangements, all creaking percussion and wheezing horns, frame some of Waits' most tender and unsettling ballads.
