Album Notes & Community Reviews

Originally intended to be a deeply serious lament about unraveling sanity and depression, the track was widely received by mainstream audiences as a quirky, ironic slacker anthem. Punctuated by casual, recorded party conversations played over a cyclical, chiming guitar riff, the song steadily builds into a wall of heavy distortion. As the band's debut single, its Spike Jonze-directed music video propelled them instantly to the forefront of the mid-90s alternative scene.
