Houdini Didn't Like the Spiritualists

Lyrics for Houdini Didn't Like the Spiritualists

He listened for his mother from The other side of the grave But the more that he listened The less she had to say He was broken-hearted when She had departed for the other side He visited mystics to find her But the voices they channeled were just artistic lies Houdini didn't like the Spiritualists He couldn't believe there's any truth to this That a loved one might return and speak to you Even though ... he wanted it to be true Ectoplasm gathered in the medium's Nocturnal lairs Heavy tables lifted up and floated In their ghostly air But no matter how miraculous or realistic That they seemed He traveled the world exposing Their fraudulent schemes Houdini didn't like the Spiritualists He couldn't believe there's any truth to this That a loved one might return and speak to you Even though ... he wanted it to be true So he told his wife When he died For her to visit His graveside One night each year He gave her the date Said if he was there He'd communicate She followed his directions And every year could be found Kneeled down on his grave With her ear to the ground She listened for his voice But in the dark she cried Because nothing was there Except the silence of the night Houdini didn't like the Spiritualists He couldn't believe there's any truth to this That a loved one might return and speak to you Even though ... he wanted it to be true
