Album Notes & Community Reviews

A landmark album recorded shortly after Abdullah Ibrahim's return to Africa from exile. 'African Marketplace' is a joyous and powerful big band session that captures the vibrant sound of a bustling market. The music is a brilliant fusion of South African 'Cape Jazz' melodies, Ellingtonian orchestration, and a deep, spiritual groove.
