Album Notes & Community Reviews
Propelled by the staggering, otherworldly vocals of a young Salif Keita, 'Mandjou' is a monumental achievement in West African popular music. The ensemble fuses ancient Malian Griot traditions and cascading acoustic guitar lines with a raw, slightly psychedelic electric edge. The legendary title track, an epic praise song for Guinean President S茅kou Tour茅, cemented the group's reputation as absolute titans of African rhythm and melody.
