American Football [LP4]

Seven years after the release of their expansive LP3, Midwest emo pioneers American Football return with their fourth self-titled studio album, colloquially known as LP4. Recorded during a transformative 10-day retreat at Panoramic House in Stinson Beach, California, the record represents the band’s most sonically ambitious and emotionally raw work to date. The album arrives following a period of significant internal upheaval, including drummer Steve Lamos’ brief departure in 2021 and frontman Mike Kinsella’s high-profile divorce. These "stormy circumstances" serve as the thematic bedrock of the record, which Polyvinyl describes as "unflinchingly heavy."
