Album Notes & Community Reviews

Recorded in Paris during a legendary festival, this track finds the fiery avant-gardist Archie Shepp in a surprisingly lyrical and beautiful mode. The all-star band, featuring members of the Art Ensemble of Chicago and bebop veteran Philly Joe Jones, creates a performance that is both free and deeply rooted.
