Album Notes & Community Reviews
Fusing radically intense communist politics with staggeringly complex musical virtuosity, Italy's Area released one of the most explosive avant-prog debuts of the era. 'Arbeit macht frei' is a fiercely energetic, intensely technical jazz-rock masterwork, balancing wildly uncommon, rhythmic time signatures with Demetrio Stratos's astonishing vocal gymnastics and wonderfully melodic protest.
