Zimbabwe

Assagai's second and final album, 'Zimbabwe', is a forward-looking fusion of funk, rock, and African influences with psychedelic touches. The album's sound is defined by a blend of grinding, groovy riffs, prominent African percussion, and melancholy horn sections, reflecting a clear James Brown influence in its rhythmic structure. Compositions are credited to band members like Dudu Pukwana and Martha Mdenge, as well as three tracks contributed by members of the British progressive rock group Jade Warrior, who also performed on the record, adding to its eclectic and energetic quality.
