Album Notes & Community Reviews
Bathory's second album further crystalized the raw, lo-fi blueprint of first-wave black metal with unrelenting speed and a deeply malicious atmosphere. Quorthon's raspy, demonic vocals deliver explicitly Satanic and occult-driven lyricism over aggressively distorted, thrash-infused guitar riffs. 'The Return......' stands as a terrifying, infernally dark milestone that heavily shaped the extreme metal underground.
