Bathory

Bathory was an influential Swedish extreme metal band formed in 1983 by songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Quorthon (Thomas Börje Forsberg). Regarded as pioneers of both black metal and Viking metal, their early work was raw and Satanic, evolving into epic, Norse-themed compositions. Quorthon was the sole creative force until his death in 2004.
