Chapter One

Chapter One cover art

As the debut from Nigerian trio Blo, 'Chapter One' is a foundational work of Afro-psychedelic funk that melds the Afrobeat rhythms of their homeland with the influence of Western rock and funk. The album is defined by the raw, fuzzy guitar work of Berkely "Ike" Jones, the funky interplay of Mike "Gbenga" Odumosu's bass, and the driving percussion of Laolu "Akins" Akintobi. Considered a pioneering African rock record, its hypnotic and sprawling jams established the band as a major force in the continent's 1970s psychedelic scene.
