Album Notes & Community Reviews

Seeking to expand beyond his quintet format, alto saxophonist Cannonball Adderley employs a massive big band arranged by Ernie Wilkins for 'African Waltz'. The title track became an unexpected hit, proving that heavily rhythmic, large-ensemble jazz could still command commercial attention during the era.
