Album Notes & Community Reviews
Cecil Taylor leads an international ensemble through a staggering, incredibly dense exercise in avant-garde big band arrangement and free jazz improvisation. The record is characterized by its wildly dissonant, percussive piano attacks and a chaotic, deeply complex horn section that seemingly battles for supremacy. 'Winged Serpent' is a manic, overwhelmingly powerful, and highly challenging masterpiece of acoustic free improvisation.
