William Parker

William Parker

A bassist, composer, and a cornerstone of the New York free jazz and avant-garde scenes for decades. Parker is known for his powerful, resonant tone and his incredibly versatile playing, which can be both a grounding force and a source of explosive energy. He has played with nearly every major figure in free jazz, including Cecil Taylor and David S. Ware. As a leader of his own ensembles, like The Little Huey Creative Music Orchestra, he creates music that is deeply spiritual, politically conscious, and rooted in a sense of community.
