Album Notes & Community Reviews
Serving as the final recording for the visionary world-jazz trio before the tragic death of sitarist Collin Walcott, this album represents the absolute pinnacle of their deeply organic, pan-global fusion. 'Codona 3' masterfully weaves Don Cherry's pocket trumpet with Brazilian berimbau, hammered dulcimer, and complex African polyrhythms. The deeply spiritual, highly improvisational suite perfectly exemplifies the spacious, crystalline acoustic aesthetic championed by the ECM label.
