Album Notes & Community Reviews

Marking the return of original bassist Todd Strange, the eleventh studio album from the New Orleans sludge metal pioneers continues their legacy of monolithic, down-tuned aggression. Frontman Kirk Windstein delivers his signature anguished roars over Sabbath-inspired grooves, ensuring 'The Serpent Only Lies' remains as crushing and melancholic as the band's revered 1990s material. The lyrics subtly integrate themes of personal redemption and perseverance.
