Dialing back the punk and speed-metal influences that defined their recent output, the legendary Norwegian duo pivots back toward a much more traditional, primitive black metal sound. Named after an obscure 80s Norwegian heavy metal band, the record relies on plodding doom riffs, raw lo-fi production, and Nocturno Culto handling all vocal duties. It served as a grim, satisfying return to their freezing, misanthropic origins.
