For their nineteenth studio album, the pioneering Norwegian extreme metal duo leaned entirely into sprawling, 1970s-inspired doom metal epics. Consisting of only five incredibly lengthy tracks, the project abandons their early frantic pacing in favor of crushing, plodding riffs and vintage analog synthesizer interludes. It represents another confident, highly organic shift in direction for the fiercely independent metal veterans.
