Album Notes & Community Reviews

Shedding his usual orchestral armor, Duke Ellington places his highly idiosyncratic and influential piano playing directly in the spotlight. Supported by a lithe rhythm section, the album highlights his brilliant, surprisingly modern approach to space and spontaneous improvisation.
