Billy Strayhorn and the bandleader collaboratively rearranged Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's classical ballet into a definitive Third Stream manifesto. The highly syncopated orchestrations famously translated the 'Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy' into the swaggering, brass-heavy 'Sugar Rum Cherry'.
