After a fractured period characterized by false starts and abandoned recordings, Carl McCoy resurrected the seminal goth rock outfit essentially as a solo endeavor augmented by session musicians. 'Mourning Sun' blends the cinematic, sprawling soundscapes of their classic era with a noticeably heavier, metallic guitar tone and deep, choral synthesizer arrangements.
