Album Notes & Community Reviews
The compositions were originally commissioned as live accompaniment for Jack Gelber's highly controversial off-Broadway play exploring heroin addiction. The quartet members, acting concurrently as musicians and junkies on stage, translated the tense, theatrical urgency into a remarkably cohesive, blues-driven studio recording.
