Glenn Branca continues his awe-inspiring experiments with massed electric guitars and alternate tunings on this ferocious microtonal symphony. 'Devil Choirs at the Gates of Heaven' unleashes a physical onslaught of dense, slowly mutating drone clusters, requiring a large ensemble of guitarists to achieve its apocalyptic overtones. The work blurs the boundaries between contemporary classical minimalism and pure noise rock extremity.
