Biography
Harrisburg-born composer Glenn Branca (1948-2018) rose from no wave bands *Theoretical Girls* and The Static to write symphonies for armies of retuned electric guitars, beginning with 'The Ascension' (1981) on #99 Records#. His overtone-rich, punishingly loud ensembles influenced *Sonic Youth* and generations of experimental rock musicians. He died in New York in 2018, leaving a cycle of symphonies still being performed.
