Selbstportrait III: Reise durch Arcadien

Album Notes & Community Reviews

The third volume in Hans-Joachim Roedelius's 'Selbstportrait' (Self-Portrait) series is a continuation of his deeply intimate, home-recorded ambient synthesizer vignettes. The album heavily prioritizes pastoral, repeating melodic motifs over complex sequencing, evoking the tranquility of the Austrian countryside where it was recorded. It is a defining, incredibly peaceful work of early German ambient and proto-new age music.
