Biography
Hans-Joachim Roedelius (born 1934, Berlin) is a foundational figure in German electronic music. He co-founded the Berlin underground hub Zodiak Free Arts Lab, then *Cluster* with *Dieter Moebius* and *Harmonia* with Moebius and *Michael Rother*, groups whose 1970s albums helped invent ambient and kosmische music. His solo work, from 'Durch die W眉ste' (1978) through the 'Selbstportrait' piano pieces to a long late run of collaborations, is gentler but no less exploratory, and he remains active as a composer and performer.
