The sixth studio album from the Finnish doom metal veterans sees a deliberate injection of galloping 1980s heavy metal into their traditionally slow, rotting aesthetic. Inspired heavily by King Diamond and classic horror cinema, the record features remarkably triumphant, highly melodic twin-guitar solos interspersed with crushing, cavernous death metal vocals. It was highly praised as a brilliantly energetic, surprisingly catchy evolution for the usually dreary ensemble.
